In the fast-evolving world of web development, not everyone has the privilege of formal education or industry mentors. Some journeys are built from pure determination, late nights, and countless cups of tea. I’m Fraz Sabir, a self-taught WordPress Developer and Front-End Designer, and this is my story—one of passion, consistency, and digital craftsmanship.
The Beginning – A Passion Sparked in Late 2021
My journey into web development began at the end of 2021, driven by an intense curiosity about how websites are built. I didn’t have access to premium courses or professional coaching. Instead, I turned to free resources on YouTube, particularly the insightful tutorials by Sir Shahzad Mirza. His beginner-friendly WordPress series became my stepping stone into the world of web design and development.
What started as a hobby quickly became a serious passion. I would spend hours every day practicing WordPress, experimenting with themes, and understanding how websites function on both the frontend and backend.
First Freelance Project – 1500 PKR That Changed Everything
After months of consistent learning, I received my first real opportunity: a simple landing page project that paid me just 1500 PKR. It wasn’t about the money—it was about the experience, the confidence boost, and the realization that my skills had real value.
That first project became the fuel I needed to pursue freelance work seriously. I started reaching out to clients via Facebook groups, connecting with small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs looking for affordable yet quality web development services.
Building My Portfolio – One Project at a Time
In the freelance world, reputation is everything. With every new project, I focused on delivering value, meeting deadlines, and providing a smooth client experience. This helped me build a portfolio that showcased not only the technical side of my work, but also design aesthetics and user-centric development.
While client acquisition was a challenge initially, my dedication to quality started generating referrals and repeat business. Slowly, I was creating a name for myself—both locally and internationally.
The Fiverr Struggle – A Lesson in Patience
In between freelance gigs, I created a profile on Fiverr—one of the world’s largest freelance platforms. But despite my skills and efforts, I didn’t receive any orders for months. It was a frustrating phase, and one that tested my patience.
But I didn’t quit.
I kept updating my gigs, refining my profile, improving my proposals, and upgrading my skills in parallel. I knew success wouldn’t come overnight. And in mid-2024, it finally happened: my first Fiverr order. From there, the momentum picked up.
Today, I’m proud to be a 4.9-star rated seller on Fiverr, with 50+ successful website development projects in niches ranging from eCommerce, blogging, portfolios, landing pages, to corporate websites.
Learning Beyond WordPress – HTML, CSS, JavaScript & More
While WordPress remained my primary focus, I knew I had to learn the building blocks of the web to become a complete developer. I invested time in mastering:
- HTML5 – Structuring web content semantically
- CSS3 – Creating responsive, modern, and animated designs
- JavaScript – Adding interactivity and dynamic user experiences
- Elementor & Page Builders – Rapid prototyping and custom UI development
- Figma to WordPress & PSD to WordPress – Precise design-to-site conversions
This expanded knowledge made me more confident in taking on custom development work, allowing me to tailor every project exactly to the client’s needs.
My Current Role – Professional WordPress & Front-End Developer
With over 100 completed projects, I now work as a freelance WordPress specialist, helping businesses, entrepreneurs, and agencies around the world bring their websites to life. Whether it’s a dynamic business site, a high-converting landing page, or a custom WooCommerce store, I provide:
- Theme customization
- Plugin integration
- UI/UX-focused designs
- Speed optimization
- Secure and scalable development
Each website I deliver is SEO-ready, mobile-responsive, and optimized for performance and user experience.
Looking Ahead – The Full Stack Developer Vision
As someone who thrives on growth and learning, I have set a new milestone for myself:
Become a Full Stack Developer by the end of 2025.
This goal is already in progress, as I continue exploring back-end technologies like PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript frameworks such as React. I want to be able to develop complete web applications from the ground up, giving me the flexibility and independence to build virtually any solution a client or business might need.
Final Thoughts – Persistence Pays Off
My journey to becoming a professional WordPress Developer wasn’t easy—but it was worth every second. What kept me going wasn’t luck—it was discipline, continuous improvement, and a deep-rooted passion for web development.
